Drop the 'O' to get castle (lactose to castle)
The 2 posts above are void.
(the word was castle and the target is still vocable.)

castle > solace
swap t > o

solace

Target Word; vocable

Hi, jojolongdong! I'm pretty sure we were playing the game correctly. Unless there is a rule that prohibits the repetition of words, the posts following cocktroversy's "castle" should be considered valid.

What happened was after cocktroversy's dropping of O (from lactose to castle), arkie's succeeding post apparently brought it back in. Then the game proceeded from there. So again, I think we weren't doing anything "illegal", so to speak. :)

But for the sake of the game's continuity, I'll just start where you left off.

castle > solace
swap t > o

solace

Target Word; vocable

Add a T to get LOCATES.

Target: vocable.

Sorry for the delay in replying but I had to re-read the previous entries, and you are right.

Apologies for my mix-up and co-incidentally we're back at the same point.

locates > maltose
swap c > m

maltose noun A disaccharide of glucose formed by the enzymic hydrolysis of starch: used in bacteriological culture media and as a nutrient in infant feeding. Formula: C12H22O11

Cocktroversy, I am sorry I am doing this again, but if I add back the S we are only 2 steps away from halftime.

relpace S: hamlets

target word 216: halftime

Arkie,

That's okay, go ahead with it. We just need the 'f' and the 'I.'

add an i: laments > manliest

manliest > filament
change s > f and re-arrange

filament

Target Word; halftime

(is there for taking - whoever submits it can choose the next Target Word, but please check it is viable^)
Viable^ ie; It is possible to reach one letter at a time and it is not a name* (proper nouns aren't allowed - capitalised in dictionaries)
Some names* are allowed because they have more than one definition like Bill or Bob for example.
