thank you so much
really like personal expeiences and contributions
so much can be learnt

- but that doesn't affect my decision to respond.

I could be a little more clear here...any physician (or other professional) who fails to respond when asked for help they are capable of providing is an ass and should be ashamed. And in a more perfect world, subject to liability or licensure action for failing to aid a fellow human in need. The devil in that however is in the details of implementing such a policy. So, for now, we'll have to settle for being an ass frowned upon by colleagues I suppose.

Rem and I just agreed that if we can't get tattoo sleeves done now due to work/professional considerations, once we retire/are "old" we'll get them done. Yeah, inked up old people!

35 seconds, all the world's warming

Last year, there was the temperature spiral. This year, it’s the temperature circle that’s making the trend of global warming crystal clear.

A new video shows the rhythm of global warming for countries around the world, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. Bars representing each country’s annual average temperature anomaly pulse up and down. It's like watching a heartbeat on a monitor.

Cold snap makes lizards evolve in just a few months

By Elizabeth PennisiAug. 3, 2017 , 2:00 PM

We may complain about freezing temperatures, but most cold snaps leave us little worse for the wear. That’s not the case for a common lizard living on the Texas-Mexico border, which, in just the span of a few months, underwent a dramatic genetic transformation in response to cold weather. In fact—in one of the most detailed examples of rapid evolution to date—a new study shows that just one cold snap can change the way green anoles’ muscular and nervous systems respond to temperature.

Crackdown on ‘three-person’ baby pioneer

ICSI.0.jpg

The US Food and Drug Administration has ordered a doctor at a New York fertility clinic to stop offering to create and implant embryos that contain DNA from three people. John Zhang has already used the experimental procedure, which attempts to prevent the inheritance of mitochondrial diseases, to produce at least one baby in work done overseas. US law prohibits the agency from considering procedures that involve genetic modification of human embryos.

Peeping in on the Mile Deep Club
Braving an Antarctic winter to catch Chilean sea bass in the act.

The Antarctic mission to observe a fish in the act

The Antarctic toothfish — known as the Chilean sea bass to those who eat it — are a prized catch. But no one has ever seen the fish’s eggs or larvae, and scientists don’t know enough about the fish to set a sustainable catch quota. So they’re braving the Antarctic winter to learn more about this elusive species’ breeding habits.

nice to know we are involved in fishhaving sex?

The three days are up and Pitt says it’s time to leave the Antarctic. As the Janas’s crew prepares to depart for New Zealand, Stevens is below deck, nurturing his developing embryos. Every day he tests them in a buoyancy chamber to see how deep they float, which tells him where they would sit in the ocean and will help scientists extrapolate how far the eggs could be carried by currents before they hatch and the fish are old enough to swim.

Soon the Janas hits

Will China save this guy??

Hopefully. At least they didn't interfere with the latest UN Resolution. They don't want a glow-in-the-dark beach next door, nor do they want hundreds of thousands of hungry, uneducated, pissed off refugees.
