People who have said that in the past normally find that doing downloads one at a time helps
or changing the time of day when you try to download

If this is a common problem I can split into four 1gb zips if that's any easier?..

Not from the getshared website. I've only been trying one at a time. It may just be the time of day or my own internet. I'll give it a try a bit later.

That's what I'm thinking is that it is my internet. It usually runs a lot better than this. I've tried downloading some other things too and some are running pretty slowly and others aren't, so there might be packet loss or something else going on right now.
