Showers

men shower in their underwear?

I've seen worse than that before. I remember a couple of years ago at my univeristy pool, there was a guy in his late teens/early 20s swimming in the pool in a t-shirt, and walking shorts. I complained to the lifeguard that it was unhygenic, and that he should not be allowed to wear street clothes in the swimming pool. After my swim, he was using the open shower (even though there were stalls with curtain available), and he proceeded to have a shower in his t-shirt and walking shorts. After my shower I saw him in the locker room. He took a locker in the corner of the room so he could drape a large towel over 2 open locker doors (like a tent) and change behind it! What a fucking headcase! I just rolled my eyes and sighed.

I have mentioned in other threads that I really enjoy using my YMCA locker room because there are no modesty issues there at all. I use the premium locker room which comes at a premium price. The showers are open, and everyone uses the hot tub and steam room nude. Guys with modesty issues are not going to pay a premium every month for facilities they will never use, so it keeps them out. This makes everyone in the premium locker room more comfortable because everyone else there is comfortable with nudity. When guys get up to these bullshit antics in the locker room, it makes others around them feel uncomfortable.

I've seen similar threads on here before. I wonder if the guys who keep covered up are more narcissistic than shy? Maybe they assume that they are so hot that everyone must be into them. I personally think its ridiculous to even shower at the gym if you're that paranoid about being seen naked. I use the shower at the gym because it's convenient to workout before work and get ready there then head to work. I couldn't give a shit if the guy showering next to me is covered or not, I'm in there to get clean.

Mabee, but as a shy guy, I never did any of that in the locker room. I'd be more likely to shower nude, then wrap the towel around me on my walk to the loccer door, then proceed to get dressed.

For me, it's more social anxiety and fear of being laughed at by others.
When I was in junior high and high school, I absolutely hated the showers because it meant getting tortured verbally and sometimes physically.
I shudder every time I remember having to undress. It was like "Let the games begin".

It seems crazy to me, but I would think it has more to do with shame brought on by religion, strict parents, previous harassment, or a combo.

In my opinion for hygene reasons, you shouldn't be allowed to wear clothing in the shower area. What's the point of showering and walking out with a smelly ass crack, or jock smell. Wash that shit.

Laughing at the person only makes it worse.
I can't recommend saying anything at all, but if you must...
If anything try to offer constructive criticism.
'hey buddy, you know those shorts could be a heck of a lot dryer if you popped them off before the shower"
Or " You know, its OK to shower naked. It's kinda awkward having you in the shower with your clothes on man".
Or try to spark up a conversation with him in the shower, make him more comfortable.

Premium locker room?? What's different than the standard package? I'd love to go to the local Y, but it is hugely expensive plus a joining fee.
I think the most recent quote I got was $485 plus fees, for basic. To add on the mens athletic center was another $200

I was at my gym a couple weeks ago and this group of three lads about 18 yo came into the locker room. I was already in the showers with a couple of other guys my age who were a lot bigger and more well built than the teenage lads and I wondered how comfortable they would be showering with us. They had been in the sauna and spa area coz I saw them come from that room. I was a bit surprised as they came into the showers and started stripping because they had all been in the sauna in shorts with boxers underneath. All except one of them got conpletely naked but this one guy took his shorts off but kept his boxers on to shower. This was infront of his mates who were naked and three more of us guys too. He must have noticed it was so obvious he stuck out like a sore thumb. I'm suprised he wasn't more embarrased than if he got his kit off and showered naked with the rest of us. Also I'm suprised his mates don't take the piss out if him.

Australian pro footballers.

Brendan Fevola makes Brisbane Lions get rid of jocks in the shower | Courier Mail

THE Fevolution will not be televised. It seems the key change in Brisbane Lions' club culture being instigated by Brendan Fevola is taking place in the locker room, under the showers.
Fev told Triple M's Greg Martin he was startled to discover Lions players "shower in their jocks".

"I felt quite uncomfortable, but I've slowly got the boys getting their jocks off," Fevola said.

"I just think it's embarrassing that the blokes shower in their jocks." Maybe they were worried Fev would whip out his mobile phone camera (a la Lara Bingle imbroglio).

Just to clarify, 'jocks' in Australia means underpants... trunks or briefs, not jockstraps.

I have only seen this a few times, mostly younger teen guys probably not fully developed and a little shy about showing their cocks. (Of course, they'd still put me to shame LOL)

we had our showers in high school n its was bout 30% no clothes 70% clothed n i always went naked n dudes hated me for it cuz im bout 5.5 soft n thick too, and they would just start gossiping n eventually the girls would find out ;)

Shower ("show-er") type here

4-1/2" X 5-1/4" gets upto 6" x 5-1/2" (soft on "good days")

took a few days to get comfortable showering with others also.

I will never understand the need males have to make fun of other guys. SOOO many guys I know have suffered some kind of shower/lockerroom humiliation. Imagine, however, the good that would result from older guys being SUPPORTIVE of younger, underdeveloped guys. Why can't they be like that?
I fuckin LOVED showering naked ( and, of course, wearing jockstraps). For many manyyears I got to do that in school, and I still jock up for a workout. At one of my gyms, there's not much nudity, and there are individual shower stalls. At my other, there's a steam room where I sit blatantly nude, hoping for a circle jerk, which happens sometimes.
Showering with other guys is the best. Those poor guys who feel they have to shower with clothes on are pathetic, in both senses of the word.
I'm sorry you had to go thru the humiliation in school, dude.

The premium locker room is for those over 18 years old. There is a hot tub, steam room, and unlimited towel service and toilettries. The basic locker room is for all ages and doesn't have any of those ammenities. It costs me about $60/month. Worth every penny.

Some people were probably never really exposed to nudity. Not entirely their fault. Or maybe they had a bad experience in the past.

And it aint just young people who display this behavior. You'd be surprised to know that there are grown men who do this too.

no experience of older folk being so, but more than happy to accept this as being so debonair, can just imagine such with some folk ...

I only see youngish Latino guys doing that at my gym...I think it may be a Catholic guilt thing.

I agree, I don't know about Catholic guilt but about 95% of the time if there is a guy shower in his underwear, the guy is Latino, and likely a newly immigrated to the USA Latino. The ironic thing is, that I sometimes see Latino guys at the beach in their underwear in public.

That being said, I saw a white guy with a huge bulge at the gym yesterday but he too showered in his undies and I didn't get to see it.

I belong to L A fit, it kills me when guys come into the suna, fully clothed and look at me like im the one crazy becuse im in a towel, i just dont get some men when it comes to nudity, last night i go to the gym,and as im walking into the locker room this guy and his son are also walking in. the boy looks to be about 9yrs old,so as we are walking in a guy comes out the shower and is walking to his locker, nice bod huge dick, yes i stole a quick look, the guy grabs his son and covers his eyes and yells at the guy comeing from the shower, HEY THEIRS KIDDS IN HERE!. the guy comeing from the shower says oh, im sorry old habit from playing sports, im sorry. IM thinking like WTF its THE MENS LOCKER ROOM! your going to see naked men tell this to the child and keep it moveing, and if he was that ofended by nudity, him and the kidd keep out becuse i streak to the shower and back with out a towel all the time.

A guy I use to carpool to my summer job with would leave his underwear on in the showers at the end of the day... everyone thought he was really weird for doing that. I wasn't use to showering nude around other men when I first started work, but now I'm fine with it.

I don't know about all that.

sorry to generalize here but latinos have absolutely no shame. they let it all hang out and don't give a fuck who's watching them. especially the ones in america that are foreign-born. if you've ever traveled to countries like Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela you would see that public nudity is a non-issues. Plus i grew up in 2 states with very high hispanic/latin-american populations (New York and Florida) and I can tell you that the latinos I grew up around were shameless.

the only latinos i can think of that would be conservative with nudity would be mexicans. they take Catholicism more seriously than all the other latin-american countries (and spanish-speaking caribbean islands)

I forgot to mention that there is lounge area in the premium locker room with a TV and telephone. Some guys hang out there and watch TV, read, etc while unwinding from a workout. This too is not offered in the basic locker room.

Interesting
Was this in the USA by any chance?
The "Any nudity = wrong" idea does seem to be prevalent in the US.
I wonder where these ideas of same sex nudity being wrong come from in the US? Is it specific to a particular religious group?
