Hehe, well if we're allowed to linger in the 1920s a while longer, then I will give honorable mention to Ramon Novarro as one of the screen's all-time sexiest men. He deserved a hell of a lot better than the terrible homophobic death he got, ... but there's no doubt he lived life to the full in his heyday.

I was living in the LA basin at the time (late 60's) seem to rmember reading he was beaten to death in his home! Would have to look it up to be sure but it seems to me that there was some talk of it being a hate crime.
