I was wondering how many guys here are using public urinals?
How many try to avoid it, preferring doing it only behind closed door?

Those who use, have any "stage fright" sometimes?

Personally I have no problem using the urinals though I avoid looking at other men for the risk of getting erection and embarrased. Usually I have no problem but once in a while, when someone stands next to me the pee just won't come out. Very frustrating, and I noticed it happens to many other men as well - one time I was next to someone two whole minutes, finished my business and he didn't even start.

Ann Landers called that a bashful kidney in her advice column and said it was more common in men that people realized.

I wasn't comfortable using urinals without dividers until I was well into my 40s. Now it's no big deal, but I think that a new-found interest in WS has something to do with that.

Just because there are no dividers does not mean you can pee on the guy next to you.

Yep I get stage fright often. Wonder why that is? I was speculating that it might be cause you are vulnerable when peeing, and another person in proximity is a potential threat.

I love pissing with other guys. Even when urinals have dividers, I'll stand far back enough that anyone who wants can have a good look at my cock as I arch my piss into the urinal. I'm uncut and I'll slowly roll the foreskin back off my cock head before I start pissing. Usually I'll at have a chubby when I'm in a public restroom. I have found most guys enjoy pissing and comparing. If someone doesn't want to, I think it's very bad manners to push yourself on him. But for those who enjoy this man's game, let's pull down the dividers and bring back the piss troughs (sp). They were the best.

Either it's because all males to you are competition, or because you're so worried about gayness.

All males are competition. That's how we evolved. Of course that's just my instinct and not necessarily intelligent thought.

I think it's a personal space issue. I don't like having people too close to me and I think it's because I feel vulnerable. When my pants are down, my dick is out, and I'm pissing, I'm quite a bit more vulnerable. If someone decided to shank me I'd be fucked. Maybe that's where the expression "caught with your pants down" comes from.

At the gayness comment:

Get over your gay self. You're gay. Good for you. Not everyone is. Get over it!

Fear is a waste of thought and energy. I'm sure you know that your brain uses 20% of your metabolism.

You'll probably never get shanked at a urinal. I would have never thought of it.

Oh I'm fully aware of how unlikely it is. As I stated this is instinctual. I just can't help it. Like when I'm aware that someone is standing behind me, or to the side but I can barely see them, my hair stands up, my breath becomes quick and shallow, my heart rate increases, my stance changes, everything else fades away and I become extremely sensitive to their movements. Could come in handy someday. Never know.

A lot of straight guys amp up that competitiveness thing, but it also makes it difficult to love and really get to know another man. For a lot of guys, this includes their own offspring.

Sorry I shouldn't have said just straight guys. Applies to a lotta men. A lotta lotta lotta men.

Yep I got that from my dad. He's probably the most competitive guy I know. Because of this, I've had trouble getting to know him as you say. Same problem with my straight friends. I've had a much easier time getting close to my gay/bi friends.
