Just for the people who worry about overdosing on vitamin D.

3.5 million IU's is the amount to put a dog in danger and will kill some.

By factory error someone got a single overdose of 6 million IU's and did not die or suffer any severe side effects.

50.000 IU a day is nowhere near dangerous, I do believe your bones are in danger of losing calcium and the arteries and organs calcifying but that's what the other vitamins like vitamin K2 are for.

yeah....
The recommended dose of 1000 iu is very old, theres been alot of research done on vitamin d over the last 10 years, and everyone should be having 5000 iu a day minimum, unless your getting sun touching your skin on a daily basis for a decent amount of time. Its one of the most important vitamins you can take, and the most important in helping prevent cancer.

The recommended dose is actually 400 IU's.
They based on a 200 year old research where children in England had severe cases of rickets, a condition where the legs bones are deformed caused by a vitamin d deficiency.
Studies indicated that rickets could be cured and prevented by giving a daily dose of 400 IU's of vitamin d.

So 400 IU's a day is the absolute bare minimum one should take just to prevent any deformation of the bones.
