yeah, yeah, all bodies are beautiful, death to photoshop and filters, we must romanticize obesity, shalala shalala

What? Obesity is just as bad, the big girls celebrated as beautiful are very dangerous. My comment was towards the gay community as it's become so toxic when it comes to physical appearance and having to look a certain way.

Y'all do know that weight is not necessarily an indicator of health, right? Like, there are plenty of overweight people who live healthy lives, they're just fat.

I love how you were trying to make a point but inadvertently played into the same toxicity.

Eh? I am all for celebrating curves if it's healthy but celebrating obesity is just as bad as celebrating overly muscular.

That's not a "toxic" opinion surely?
Where do you draw the line? Surely it cannot be BMI, which is widely known to not be an accurate or definite indicator of actual health.

Something worth noting, most of the “big is beautiful” “celebrate your curves” “thick and juicy” women and drag queens end up losing weight for “undisclosed health reason.”

Zane looks good now. It doesn’t matter how he reached the finish line and if or if not... as long as he got there.

People love to conflate attractiveness with health issues as an excuse to be a-holes. Meanwhile people who use deeply unhealthy means to become skinnier or ripped like smoking, disordered eating, risky surgeries, hormone injections etc. are still considered very beautiful bc people aren't attracted to great blood results, they're attracted to a certain look. Guess what, the socially acceptable bullying of fat people doesn't make them healthier, on the contrary, it creates self-loathing, eating disorders, depression, chronic stress etc. all of which exacerbate or even create more physical health issues. Trying not to hate yourself is not glorifying obesity and society certainly doesn't put fatness on a pedestal so that people try to get fatter. Even if they're unhealthy or ugly in your eyes, you don't have to be attracted to a person to not to be a dick to them.

I didn't call them "ugly" or even paint them in a bad way I said the way society and certain media celebrate "big is beautiful" is just as dangerous as the section within the gay community using steroids and pushing the overly muscular build.

Ok, so let's change the narrative. Rather than uncritically saying "big is beautiful" (and again, weight is not an indicator of a person's health), we should say that overweight people deserve to be treated with respect on the basis of being human.
Fat people are sometimes treated as subhuman or with disgust, and I think the pushback on the normalization of being overweight and overemphasis on health from people who don't know the health status of those people is rooted in fatphobia rather than any actual concern. Fat people exist, some of them have health problems, not all of them do. A lot of people are healthy, they're just fat, and that's ok, they're just existing, and they deserve respect.

Before I derail this thread any further, anyone thinks Zane would make a good Oliver Queen/Green Arrow?20230304_235558.jpg

Idk, in live-action we've only had two interpretations of Ollie. And I think it's limiting to think that because Zane is gay he can only play gay characters. Also, Ollie and Dinah are one of mu favorite comic book couples.

I might be wrong, cause I didn’t make it past the first episode, but didn’t he play a straight frat bro type in that one Netflix show about a female lawyer or something.
