plenty of str8 actors only accept str8 roles, why cant gay actors do the same??????

The Oliver Queen character requires an in-your-face brashness that I've not seen Philips display yet. He seems to go for the more quiet/laid back roles.

That's his prerogative and his right of course. But some of us are allowed to disagree with it. It's self type-casting and I think it's a silly decision. And I hope he changes his mind. Just my opinion. Lol
I'm not sure this is explicitly the case. Never heard any actor say that (and of course they wouldn't, since that isn't very politically correct lol). The difference is that there is limited pool of gay roles, you have plenty of choice to not pick them as a str8 actor if you're established enough.
Google lgbt characters in tv shows 2020-2023 and there will only be a very small handful of those for gay/bi male characters. The majority of them are for gay/bi women.
Studios aren’t producing many shows with gay/bi male characters, unless the show is specifically catered to them.
It’s not smart to limit yourself to such a limited number of roles. Ones that keep getting less and less common.

for starters, gay characters are constantly being given out to straight actors, many of them have a career launch after playing said gay character. but then gay actors aren't getting straight roles as much because they're considered not straight passing enough(the show "the other two" even had a whole episode about this, where the carey was auditioning for like a commercial and he wasn't being considered for it because he wasn't straight passing and had to try butch it up to get the gig, and it was like a one liner type thing).
the other issue is if he does go for straight roles, he's gonna get typecast anyway. he's always gonna be put as the lady's man who's always got some chick wrapped around his arm. he probably doesn't want to have to make out with women on screen and have sex scenes with women. so he's choosing to only play gay parts so that way, if he's getting typecast, at least it's with things he feels comfortable doing, i.e. kissing men and having sex scenes with men

You have two indie movies that went straight to streaming, a notorious flop, and a 2011 horror movie with no gay characters in it on this list.
It's from wikipedia but that list doesn't take much into account as there's no way to determine if they are leading roles, supporting roles, reoccurring roles, guest roles, or reality tv characters.
You also have to consider that they might not all be roles for American television shows- some asian tv shows marketed to women sometimes have a whole cast of gay characters and a Brazilian show has 4-5 possibly bisexual males that kiss once or twice.
It also lists characters that might or might not be gay.
My favorite is when they introduce a gay (usually male) character only to kill him off an episode later.
Furthermore, not all those shows call for a 25-35 year old (muscular) actor.
So, unless you're buddy-buddy with Ryan Murphy or come from a wealthy family, no actor can sustain himself by only taking on gay roles because it is extremely limiting.
...but if he fails...He might jump on the OF bandwagon possible win-win for us.
I think he mean "knock on the cabin," which didn't exactly flop, but it wasn't as popular as it should have been.

So he might have found it on wikipedia but wikipedia doesn't do independent research, right?? So somebody got it from someplace and put it on wikipedia. So I still have all the same methodology questions that I had before. I agree with everything else that you say.
