You weren’t addressing me but I felt the need to chime in. There is obviously nothing wrong with dating or being attracted to persons outside of your ethnic group but when you factor in people who EXCLUSIVELY date outside their race that’s when it becomes problematic. I believe Karamo Brown is one of those people.

When did exclusively dating one race that's not your own, mean you hate another race whether it's your own or not? I'm black and exclusively date black men, it doesn't mean I hate white men. It's simply my preference to date black men, yet I can still find white men attractive.

I hear you, except that you and the rest of us don't live in a vacuum or outside of history. In the US alone, Black people have been subject to multiple forms of dehumanization and objectification for centuries. Black people did not arrive on these shores hating or dehumanizing White people, or creating the ideologies of racism and White supremacy. Those came with the European settler colonialists, and those ideas arose during the Enlightenment, and were put in place throughout the British colonial period and subsequent periods of US history. Forming relationships and families (which Black people have done, under a range of hardships, from the 1600s through today) was quite different from White people's experiences, and distinct from interracial (White-Black, White-Indigenous, etc.) relationships, which often involved unequal power relationships (especially during chattel slavery). Even today, Whiteness is still centered, valorized, extolled, considered normative, etc. I mean, we have this thread to center Black men from the US and across the globe, not because we "hate" White people, but because even on this cite, Whiteness quickly becomes centered in general threads (look at the sports ones, etc.). So a Black-Black relationship need not involve "hating White people," because it represents a counterpoint to the US expectation of Whiteness as the norm. It is still the case that, as the late, great Joseph Beam said, "Black men loving Black men is a revolutionary act."

TL;DR version: Comparing a Black-Black relationship to a White-White relationship or a White-BIPOC one doesn't take into account the reality of the world we're living in.
