I doubt that guys who have participated in circle jerks are in the majority in the US. They seem to be more common in rural areas. My first circle jerks took place while I still lived in Cuba. Such things are expected there, and the attitude towards sexual experimentation is much more permissive. However, moving beyond mere experimentation is generally frowned upon.

Back when I was in college, the usual fraternity "initiation" or hazing ritual somehow involved the humiliation (percieved or otherwise) of some semi-public masturbation. Much as a previous poster described, this often involved some sort of circle-jerk in front of fraternity members and their girlfriends.
