You could not be more wrong in your thought process because someone "wants to FORCE everybody else to follow HIS sense of what is or is not right" is called campaigning and persuading. Just because others disagree does not mean he is wrong or extreme and certainly does not make someone a fascist.
Wrong.
for a minority to press legislation criminalizing what other people want to do is to IMPOSE their rule on the actions of others.
Really, it is.
You have no logical argument in refutation.
For example, Prohibition. The imposition, buy a bunch of tea totallers ,of their restricive ideology on an entire nation.
The result?
The creation of an organized criminal underworld to supply the very thing that was forbidden. And the romanticizing of criminality in general because the law turned millions of drinkers into 'outlaws'.
By the same token, the US has some of the most restrictive drug laws in the world... and the highest percentage of people incarcerated as a result.
Our remarkably high crime rate, and murder rate, is largely centered around the fact that drugs are illegal, and yet people want to do them.
What do we get for the war on drugs? An underground cash economy fueling Gang and criminal activity nationwide.
As in prohibition, seeking a greater 'public good' actually resulted in greater public harm.
And those are issues that the state can DEMONSTRATE a compelling public interest in.
The only compelling State interest in Circumcision is the PROVEN reduction of transmission of certain STDs. THat argues FOR the procedure.
On your side, the only argument you have to offer is some nebulous and subjective notion that being left "natural" is somehow significantly 'better' than having a vestigial and often problematic flap of skin removed.
I understand you feel that way... but others do not, and you have ZERO evidence that others are in any way "wrong".
In such a situation, YOU should follow your feelings and LEAVE OTHERS TO FOLLOW THEIRS.
All kind of things are 'natural'.
Some children are naturally born with cleft palates.
Any parent WAITING for their child to be an adult to make the decision on surgical correction would be seen as inhuman.
Sorry, but the 'illegalize' circumcision crowd has no logical nor ethical basis on which to argue the absolutism of their position.
