Jockstraps why and when?

Ive always been very self conscious in being nude or partially nude around other guys in the locker rooms.
I never felt comfortable with my body.

The trick for me was to figure out the exact aspects of each situation that make me uncomfortable.

I'm fine at nude beaches. My building's pool with a bathing suit? Not so much. I know it goes against common wisdom, but I've found straight, textile environments far more hostile than gay or nudist.

There's also no rule that says you have to be comfortable with your body before going nude or partially nude. It's ok to put your anxieties on a shelf and say, "Sorry, I have things to do. You're simply going to have to wait."

Hey guys,
Ive been looking at some jockstraps and they sure look damn sexy on most of guys. I thought about buying ones to wear during summer or workout for better ventilation, but I wonder how socially acceptable it is to undress myself in the locker room wearing a jockstrap. Are there any guys here who use jock straps for reasons which are not only about sex?

I want to join your gym to see you changing

I'm going to show my age here...
Jockstraps were originally intended for athletic activity. It may be hard to believe in modern times, but when I was in high school gym class, all the guys had to line up and prove to the coach that we were wearing a jockstrap. If you didn't have a jock during the random "jock checks," you got a "jock mark," which would affect your grade if you got several. The coach would explain the importance of wearing a jock if you wanted to keep your gonads healthy. And no, we didn't drop our shorts--the jock check consisted of pulling the leg strap out through the bottom of your shorts to demonstrate the presence of a jock. (Be careful letting go of the strap...)

So jockstraps are definitely athletic apparel first and foremost (and sex party gear only as a secondary use). So why don't you see them more often in locker rooms?

1) Years ago, you absolutely did.

2) For one thing, they never worked all that well at supporting your junk. Modern compression shorts, or similar garments tend to be more comfortable and do a better job for many guys. But the fabrics and materials needed to make these are a fairly recent invention.

3) A lot of what people do in a gym doesn't jiggle your junk, so there is no need for added support. Running on the treadmill? Then yes, you need support, or the boys are going to be sore. Doing hammer curls? Probably not.

4) I think some people had an aversion to the bare-ass-and-lifted-cheeks look (although that is what makes jocks so sexy to others...). So they try to wear a jock and other underwear...but too may layers for comfort. (see #2).

So by all means, it is absolutely appropriate to wear a jockstrap for your workout. You'll just look a bit old-school, but nothing wrong with that!

I’m 27 and always wear a jock in the gym. Currently I always wear a jock outside of one too. I have jocks that I use for workouts hat wick moisture a bit more and cottonnones for every day wear.

There is currently one guy, other than myself, wearing a jock strap at my gym. We are both older and come from a time when their use was totally common (every day in PE, under shorts at the beach, touch football on the weekends, etc. Every guy had at least one just as they had a pair of briefs for every day of the week). NO one even seems to notice. I sometimes wear one when I ma planning on doing squats as it just feels like I have more mobility.
OP, buy a couple and try them out. No harm. NO one will hassle you.
Already did!! :)

Some folks say that compression shorts have replaced the jock and maybe they have for some guys. I think that it depends on what your build and what makes you comfortable. I've worn comp shorts and they felt great on my legs but they tended to push my junk down and in. Since I have big legs there is nowhere for my balls to go and I get uncomfortable in comp shorts. I Jock keeps things front and center with a little lift. Back when I was lifting I often wore compression shorts with a jock underneath.View media item 1533343View media item 1533344

When i was taking up karate lessons it was actually a requirement to have to wear a jockstrap & protective cut.
Some of the guys though would wear the jockstrap and underwear on top of it whilst others wore only the jockstrap under the karate uniform.

I was in the group that wore the strap with underwear on top :/
The underwear kept your Gi from bunching btwn your butt cheeks.

I wear them during the spring and summer instead of regular underwear.

They are so much cooler. I work outside and my boxers or other underwear would be soaking wet by the time I got home.

Wearing a jockstrap I don't have that problem. They keep me cool down there while I'm working. The ventilation feels so much better.

I remember the day when almost all guys wore them. Wearing them was like a rite of passage. You were finally old enough to worry about your balls needing support. I don't wear them as often as I used to because I am not doing the kinds of sports that really cause my balls to flop around. If I were playing tennis, racquetball, basketball, or if I were running as much as I used to, I would wear them. For me, most compression shorts just don't do the job. They may look good, but they don't hold things in place.
