Jockstraps why and when?

Pretty much strapped most of the time. Blue collar job on moto and I'm physically active out of work (skiing, gym daily, dirt biking, water sports, etc).
Ironically, I can't wear a jock for the sport that they were invented for. I bicycle a lot (road & MTB) and thought that a jock would be perfect for testicle control. Unfortunately the point where the straps attach to the pouch rubs me raw.

I'm Aussie and we don't have them as normal underwear as kids or anything. I have really embraced them lately. Initially it was because it was erotic, but now they're in my normal rotation. I find them so comfortable, but I do like the sexiness I feel wearing them. They make me feel confident. I wear them to work in business wear, on the weekend in jeans or shorts, but ironically less so to the gym where I need something more absorbent. I don't think there's hard and fast rules though - do what makes you feel good!

At 34, maybe I'm one of the older guys and maybe I'm not...

I workout 5 days a week and wear a jock strap most days, because it gives me a bit more confidence and motivation. I'm gay and like the aesthetic of it, but you can take or leave that... I don't think a jockstrap is inherently better or worse than compression shorts, which is why I use either depending on the workout.

Legs? Jockstrap all day long - when squatting it just provides me the best comfort.
Upper body? Really just depends on what I grab, because it doesn't matter.
Running? Compression shorts - depending upon how much you sweat, after a few miles a jock just gets completely saturated and loses its support to the point it becomes a nuisance.
Core? Really just depends on what I grab, because it doesn't matter.

Living in the city and going to a gym with mostly 20 to 40-somethings, I sadly only ever see another jockstrap about once a year. It's a dying breed unfortunately :/

Seats were probably wider when Bike invented the jock, lol. I wouldnt wear a jock bicycling as seat is between legs and leg strap-pouch material discomfort. Motorcycles seats are wide in all forms of riding dirt (rider typically standing) and adventure/street you sit on your butt.

Don't own any underwear. Jocks are all I wear under all my clothes.
same here Coach! well, i have other underwear, but i never wear them anymore. Jocks are just comfortable, and make me feel fit sexy and manly as fuck.

I wear them as underwear all summer under my shorts. Just so much cooler than wearing boxers or boxerbriefs.
Sir, it’s men such as yourself that has helped me to see the need for an eco-friendly and reliable laundry service dedicated solely to the care and needs of our jock wearing brothers.

Of course I’m speaking about Jocks-R-Us. At Jocks-R-Us we come to you. There’s never a need for our patrons to leave the comforts of their home. We offer same day service and guarantee fresh “right out of the wrapper” results.

You have better things to do then to schlep your soiled undergarments all over town, or, heaven forbid, demean yourself by using antiquated technology such as a washer and/or dryer.

We at Jocks-R-Us specialize in stubborn, hard to remove stains and odors. Consider them both a problem of the pasts. We stand behind our claim that there isn’t a stain or odor that can’t be removed. Our highly trained staff and patented cleaning methods “chew” through and “suck” away the most stubborn of stains and odor. Stains and odors that traditional cleaning methods can’t even budge.

We so believe in our superior cleaning methods, that if for any reason at any time, you are not 100% satisfied, we’ll refund your money and instead - pay YOU! And, we’ll continue paying you for an entire year! That’s right! This is how confident we are in our superior product and your complete satisfaction.

But wait, there’s more. For a limited time, we’ll be extending our first year offer - indefinitely! That’s right! Our business model is unlike the traditional models of yore. We focus on quantity. So to help ensure our success, we encourage our customers to tell their friends, and then those friends to tell their friends, and so on and so forth. And to show you our appreciation for doing so, starting this summer, we’ll be bringing that same deep-cleaned freshness we offer your jocks, to your socks! And, you guessed it, the entire first year of that service is on us! All the same great benefits we brought to your jocks, we’ll now bring to your socks!

*starting June 1, 2019 Jocks-R-Us will officially be known as Jocks-N-Socks.

There is currently one guy, other than myself, wearing a jock strap at my gym. We are both older and come from a time when their use was totally common (every day in PE, under shorts at the beach, touch football on the weekends, etc. Every guy had at least one just as they had a pair of briefs for every day of the week). NO one even seems to notice. I sometimes wear one when I ma planning on doing squats as it just feels like I have more mobility.
OP, buy a couple and try them out. No harm. NO one will hassle you.
What brand of jock do you prefer? You don’t find briefs as support and free moving as a jock?

I like working out in jocks because I can squat deeper and really helps activate the glutes. Plus I love the way my ass looks in them after a heavy leg day

I wear them occasionally when exercising. A the time when I was growing up, they were thought to be essential. They were a sign that you were a real man. Real men worried about protecting their balls. I remember a package for a jock that had a golfer on it. Even golfing was thought to be a sport that required a jock. While I don't wear them as often (and in our gym I experience a guy once in a while wearing them), I still find them a whole lot more supportive and comfortable than compression shorts. These I find non-supportive for my balls. If I were playing basketball or tennis or racquetball regularly I would wear them. When playing racquetball I used to wear both a cup supporter with cup and another jock.

I use a McDavid Swim Jock that is over-sized in the waistband so as to avoid the muffin top effect. Despite being slender, I wear a large. As for comfort, I just find them to allow great freedom of movement, when worn with loose shorts, for doing squats.

I’m definitely looking for a good jock

Hey guys,
Ive been looking at some jockstraps and they sure look damn sexy on most of guys. I thought about buying ones to wear during summer or workout for better ventilation, but I wonder how socially acceptable it is to undress myself in the locker room wearing a jockstrap. Are there any guys here who use jock straps for reasons which are not only about sex?
Yes, jockstraps give you support and keep you from swinging or flopping around. In a all men's locker room, it's always acceptable to wear jockstraps or anything else you wish to wear.

That's a shame!
When doing karate I always wore a jockstrap. Black jockstrap with black compression shorts, white jockstrap with white compression shorts. Always wore the jockstrap on the outside of the shorts so that means the outline of the straps was visible under my gee. Never was ashamed of my straps showing.

Good question. I go to a straight type of gym and I saw a man yesterday in his 60’s had one on when he dropped his shorts after the work out. Only time I saw one.
Older men grew up wearing one under their bathing suits for modesty reasons and were required to wear one in gym class in school.
