Not necessarily the exact same guys but there is a trend nowadays that young guys show huge differences between their online personalities and how they behave in real life.
Online = very open Vs. Real life = very shy
Again - where is the evidence that this statement applies to any one guy?
I agree that there are guys who are crazy open online and there are guys who are crazy shy in, for example, locker rooms, but where is the evidence that any one guy fills both of those roles at the same time?
The best that you can say is that "some guys are really open" and "some guys are very shy". What you cannot say is that "some guys are open online but shy in real life" because you have no evidence to support that statement.

I think what they’re trying to say is that your statement might be a bit too bold and generalized without solid evidence. It’s true for you and your experience, but that doesn’t mean it’s the case everywhere. Not saying you’re wrong, just that we’d need more evidence before calling it true across the board.
