Londoner here, though not straight. 100% of the time I work out I wear a jock. I do Olympic weightlifting and functional fitness and they give me the support and keep everything out the way perfectly. Compression just doesn't cut it for me. Happy to change openly in the changing rooms too without a worry.

The Nike ones are brilliant, grab them from ASOS. If you want more of a classic jock, import the GYM ones from jockstaps.com.
hey londonder OlyLifter, let me know if you are ever in the san fransico bay aera. AND I DO AGREE AsOS is the best place for them.

Exactly, "some".

Not all, not a majority. Just some.
Ever seen an NFL game? Those guys are wearing jocks.

Also, fetish/fetish wear can be very subjective along with highly personalized. On that basis your argument is moot.

I wear one at the gym every time I go, and have actually seen a couple of other guys who I know are straight with families changing into or out of one recently. Starting wearing them in high school. Tried compression shorts a few years back, but never could find any that didn’t bunch up on my legs when moving around so I went back to jocks and been happy ever since.

Hahahahahah shit at first I couldn't believe what I was reading! No idea what's with this whole jockstraps are apparently gay thing?! To answer the question: YES, straight guys wear jocks. Gay guys prolly wear them too. I wear em, a lot of my bros wear em, professional athletes wear em, school jocks wear em, ordinary dudes wear em.

I’ve never worn a jockstrap for rugby, I’ve actually only ever seen a few guys wear one and they were older guys. I think jockstraps are seen as old-fashioned in England, especially as cups are banned in rugby. The vast majority of guys wear some form of compression shorts to play. Jocks are rare and would be considered a bit weird over here now.

This is also what I was thinking! I feel American guys just wear them but here in England it Calvin’s or something

Seriously no offense meant at all, but to me this thread is kind of silly, the answer is yes, unless you think all these guys are gay, lol:

True. It's definitely not the majority, which is sad. I caught a video clip a while back with 3 pro players talking a bit about that, with one saying he didn't wear anything underneath because his pants had some kind of place for his cock and balls. The other guy very matter-of-factly said, "I wear a jockstrap. There's a lot of stuff down there that could get slammed." I wish I could find that clip. The authentic nature of the conversation was kinda hot.

I’m straight (curious) wondering if straight guys wear jock wraps?

I’m wanting to start the gym soon but I feel a jockstrap (Nike one looks good) would be better support for me while I work out? Do you guys agree? And other straight guys do you think the same or do you already wear them?

is anyone in London up for being a gym buddy too!? I have no clue what to do when it comes to the gym - the weights area I never step foot in as it’s too intimidating to go there when I do t know what I’m doing ahha

I’m up for a good steam/sauna and shower in the nude after a good workout with a buddy

Male, 20, London
Yes straight men wear jock straps. I grew up wearing them in the 50ties and 60ties,

When did a jock strap become gay? I wear one. Married 37 years with two grown boys married with families! I cannot fathom this kind of stupidity! When did they become gay?
I am 74. Some time I missed it being a gay issue.

I’ve posted about this elsewhere here I think; growing up playing sports in the late 80s and 90s jockstraps/athletic supporters were pretty common. Part of our PE class uniform if you can believe that, but so we’re shitty short shorts and coarse gray t-shirts. We also had communal showers.

The right jock, for me at least, can be more comfortable than compression shorts. But not always the right choice…like leg presses unless you want everyone to see it all.

jocks are far less common from my experience but are making a bit of a come back. Personally I’m not a big fan of some of the fashion jocks, but I won’t knock anyone for wearing them.
I remember this and I still use one for all sports and exercise, as does everything else I know of my generation, but the youngsters seem to wear the pants they wore when they arrived.
